Vin and I woke up at 4:20 am to get ready for the 1st PTAA Charity Fun Run we were going to join. All set to sprint, we headed on to UP Diliman to register. We got there around 5:40, and tough luck, registration was already closed. A lot of runners were still arriving, ready to join the run. But the organizers didn't accommodate us anymore. The bad thing about it was the people in charge of the registration weren't very nice and friendly, and were not the least bit apologetic that they couldn't let us in anymore. We woke up early and drove all the way from wherever we came from just to be part of the event. A lot were pissed off, others surprised that they were actually rejecting participants (and rejecting our money) when the race hadn't even started yet. Baduy diba? What's really irritating is that the registration cut-off time wasn't stated in the web page where I saw the info about this event. Had I known the time, I would've gotten there before 5:30.
So to the organizers, especially to that bitchy lady in the registration area, you guys are really disappointing.
Since my beau and I were already there, we decided to just have our own fun run. Which turned out to be a lot more fun, too! We were going to join the 5km race, and instead we ran 7km on our own. Burned more calories pa! Saya! 6km was spent running / jogging / brisk walking. The last km was spent strolling at a leisurely pace, holding hands, making kwento, cracking jokes, dissing the PTAA race and laughing out loud. Alvin said maghuhubad daw siya sa harap nung finish line nila, in protest. Pero siyempre he didn't do it. Although he would've loved to tell the bitchy registration lady, "Ikaw ba ang matron of honor dito?" Hahahaha!
We bought taho and soy milk after finishing our run. Then off we went to the UP Diliman Coop to have breakfast at Rodic's. Skinless longganisa, fried egg and fried rice - da best! I wanted to take pictures, but I forgot to bring my cam. Next next Sunday na lang, when we join the GIG Run. I enjoy taking photos while running. And Rodic's definitely deserves a spot on my blog.
Bah! So what if we missed the real race? Our own fun run was so much fun-er!

Splashin' Style!
Hello, rainy season! It's been pouring cats and dogs non-stop this week. The weather's drab, but that doesn't mean your looks should be, too. That is why I have this conveniently situated near my bedroom door.
Raingear fashion for this chick who's always on the go. Before I head out on a rainy day, I skim through this rack for the perfect jacket or shawl to match my outfit. Yes, of course, your jacket MUST match your outfit! For me, at least. :)
These are some of my fave picks:
Like the classic LBD, every girl must have a trench coat. This one I got on sale a few years back. Such a steal!
My beau gave me this in 2004 or 2005, if I remember it right. And I still love it until now! Bright red and sporty make one hot chick in short shorts or jeans. :)
My most expensive jacket! I got this for free when I hosted their Streetdance Battle event about four years ago. I believe this was worth around 12-15K. One of the perks of being a radio personality, the freebies are endless! Wheeee! :)
For those really cold days, this wool jacket is perfect. My sis, Adie, got me this during one of her HK trips. I love the faux fur!
This one I got in China, when I was there with my girlfriends last year. Cool, hip and young! And I probably got it because of the word "Happiness" on it, because during that time, happiness was elusive. Hehehe. I remember mareng Kat reminding me to check kung tama ang grammar ng nakasulat. Madalas kasi hindi. :)
This has been in my closet for ages, too. And it spells c-h-i-c! :)
And of course, I also have some fab picks from my clothing sponsor. Thanks, Tita Mags! :)
I have jackets and sweaters in light pink, hot pink, blue green, dark green, red, purple and black. Cardigans, denim, knitted, etc. Most of them were purchased on a whim, when I'm on a movie date and I forget to bring a jacket. And when I'm too tamad to slip into these things, I bring a shawl, choosing from yet another colorful stack.
It really is so fun being a girl...rain or shine!

Dear Daddy...
I saw this entry on PostSecret...
...and I got teary-eyed, my heart going out to the person who sent this. I think it's terribly sad to never be able to feel a Dad's love for his daughter.
I know for a fact that there is no other guy in the world who will love you the way your dad does. That fierce, unconditional love that does not age or fade or wither. I know this because I have found that kind of love in you. You've stood by me all these years, even when I'm old and strong enough to stand on my own. When I'm at my happiest, you always smile and feel proud of me. When I'm down and broken, you're the first one who gets hurt, the first one who voices out plans of retribution - and sometimes they're so silly I laugh despite the tears. When someone tries to break me, you always say I'm the better person, and I believe you.
I'm lucky because I don't know how it feels like to send my dad a package and a letter and have them returned to me unopened. Whenever I give you something, you eagerly open it and say "thank you...thank you very much!" I'm lucky I have you... a dad who's like no other!

Hear, hear!
In the movie Night at the Museum 2, Teddy Roosevelt, played by Robin Williams, said that the key to happiness is physical exercise.
I agree! Well, maybe not the sole key to happiness, but one of the keys that open that elusive door. Exercise releases endorphins, and therefore relieving stress and anxiety, making you a happier you! I stopped going to the gym for about six or seven months. When I decided to get back to the healthy habit this year, it has done wonders! I'm always in a better, more positive mood. Plus, when your skin glows, when your clothes fit better, when your body feels light - wouldn't that make you happy?

Awaiting the return of the Boy Who Lived
The sixth Harry Potter movie will be hitting the big screen soon. The trailer looks spectacular, and I know a lot of HP fans, myself included, are really looking forward to seeing this flick. To refresh my memory a bit, I re-read my books and finished the fifth one last night. Once again, my heart broke when Sirius Black died, and I was sobbing on my pillow as I leafed through the last pages.
I remember the fifth movie quite well, having seen it on HBO just recently. While the book is undoubtedly better than the film, I liked the execution of Sirius's death better in the movie. But so many important details were taken out, and many changed. That's why if you have not read the books, you will never understand why the rest of the world have all seven of J.K. Rowling's masterpieces on their bookshelves. Nothing short of amazing, she is.
After the tragic loss in the fifth story, another tragedy happens in Half-Blood Prince, which leads to even more tragedies in the last book. So I will be ready with my box of tissues. The 6th movie will be out sometime in July of this year.
A little Half-Blood Prince trivia I found on the net:
Director Guillermo Del Toro turned down the chance to direct this film so he could work on Hellboy II.
Helen McCrory had been cast to play Bellatrix Lestrange in Order of the Phoenix in 2007, but had to back out because she was pregnant. She will play Bellatrix's sister, Narcissa Malfoy in this film. (I think Helena Bonham Carter played Bellatrix quite superbly!)
Naomi Watts was the first choice to play the part of Narcissa Malfoy but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
J.K. Rowling read through the script for this film, and found a line where Dumbledore mentions a girl he had a crush on when he was younger. After reading it, she informed the filmmakers that Dumbledore is in fact gay, and that his only romantic infatuation was with the wizard Grindelwald, whom he later had to defeat in a wizard duel. She later made this information public while promoting the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

All things happy!
...the month of May brought these and more! Good times with the family, lotsa love and positive vibes.
May 15, my youngest sis, Andrea, had a fantastic debut celebration at the BFQC Clubhouse. Organized by Adie, Ant, Alvin and myself - a.k.a. Events at Play, Inc. :) It was a Summer Beach party, so everyone came in their summer outfits. Every detail had the feel of summer - orange and yellow colors everywhere, a beach background for the photo wall, fire dancers, a roasted pig, dirty ice cream, etc.
Welcome drinks for the guests. Spiked punch. Adie was the one who took care of this, being the tomador that she is. :)

The food choices were all pang-beach. Banana leaves for plates. Waiters in summer outfits. Perfect!

Surprise serenade from R&B sensation, Thor, who also came in his summer attire. :)

It was one helluva night! And everyone went home smiling and for Bek's friends, with wet swimsuits. More pics on my multiply home.

On Vacay!
My Dad doesn't always get free time to take us on vacay, because of our schools and all the workload. So when finally we get the chance to go on a break, Dad makes sure we'd have a great time. And we always do!
So off to Subic we went. It was a weekend of many firsts for me: first time to go to Subic, first time to watch a tiger feed up close, first time to pet a camel, first time to be kissed by a sea lion, first time to pet a dolphin, first time to watch a high-dive show. What fun!
We were the only ones given this chance to pet the dolphin. We even got to feed it and shake its fin! Saya!
High-dive Act. These guys were cool. And I had a major crush on one of them, Derek the comedian.
Kissed by a sea lion. Kewl! Just don't tell my dermatologist. :)
Reptiles bore me. Because most of them don't move. Buti na lang this croc decided to show off.
The tigers were so cool! I wanted to touch this tiger's teeth. Then I decided not to risk it. Smart choice, my dear. But really, I was hoping a tiger would actually bite off someone's hand. 'Stig!

The best thing about family vacations like this? Everything's FREE! The parents pay for everything! Wheee! Thanks, Dad and Mom, for the awesome vacay! More pics on my multiply home.

We're in Subic!
Vacationing in Subic with the family. We were here Friday night, despite the stormy weather. Thankfully the sun made its presence felt yesterday when we went to the Zoobic Safari. The reptiles bored me to death, but the tigers were awesome! Medyo bitin lang.
The tigers were awesome! This one, though, was too lazy to entertain the guests.
Nice camel! He fondly welcomed my petting. :)
Dad made a crazy decision to extend our vacay 'til Monday. Syempre wala akong choice but to stay with them. Unless I want to take the bus by my lonesome back to Manila.
