Major change!

Starting Monday, I’ll be embarking on a major lifestyle change. I am moving to a different time slot. From 6-9 am to 3-6 pm. The show will still be called Drive & Grind. And I am to be reunited with my ex-partner Rye of Sun Valley Crew. I’m excited about this change. And at the same time, jittery. I’ve been doing sign-on since January 2004. My body is used to waking up at 4:30 AM, so much so that when I’m on vacation, I still wake up before the sun rises. My rakets (voicings and recordings) are all set at 10AM onwards. Now I have to change everything – from my body clock to my daily sched and routine. I even have to buy my own parking space now. Worse, I have to tackle metro manila’s tough, headachy traffic! Aaargh!

But I am willing to embrace these changes. If only for the good of the station. I don’t mean to sound like a martyr. But I believe I can adjust. I don’t want to be trapped in my own comfort zone. I can make this happen. And I know it will. Hehehe… The power of positive thinking.

I’ve been starting on a new book. 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. Very, very interesting read. Some of the laws are quite cruel though. It’s like a politician’s guidebook. How to be cunning, conniving, and deviously rise up to power. I like it. And I think with the way our company is built, this book will teach me the right approach. No more compassion. That’s why I decided to drop The Last Temptation of Christ. I decide to fight fire with fire.

Back to my schedule… Until Monday, I’m boarding with Robi and our new jock, Don (from MTV). Training them for the meantime, giving them room to explore their personalities and get the hang of it. They’ll be handling sign-on starting next week. And Sir Joe is excited about it. I think he’s more excited than they are. That’s why I’m willing to give this change a chance. It’s a power line-up for Wave. And we’re crossing our fingers.

I'm back!

Promotion is a good thing, but the time it eats – goodness! I can’t remember being this busy with work before. It’s like everyday you’ve got so many things to do, to accomplish, to work on. Everyday I go to work, look at my notebook, and just when you think you’re done with the to-do-list, I start writing on a new page, more stuff to do. I wake up at 4:30 AM, stay on after my 6-9 show until around 6 or 7 PM. I don’t want to pause, or rest. I just want to keep going. I’m afraid I might lose my sense of direction if I stop for a while. I just have so many goals. So many things I want to change. Protocol, old plugs, stale breakers… Sigh! I just want the station to sound fresh again, new, alive, revitalized! My goal is the same as Sir Joe’s – make Wave 89.1 the most sought after station in the country. It’s a tough job, one heck of a challenge, but I’m taking it one, two, three steps at a time, and I don’t intend to stop.

Been having problems with work. I’ve been forced to swallow disrespect and insubordination. I think this will pass. I hope it will. At the rate we’re going – sales, sound and all – we can’t afford to pull each other down. If you’re not willing to die for the station, then don’t pull down or discourage the people who are willing to.

But work shouldn’t really stop you from enjoying the good things in life like love, family and friends.

Despite my busy sched, I was able to catch great flicks!

SIN CITY
My beau and I watched this at Festival Mall Alabang. Not a very impressive cinema, but the movie – AMAZING! You’d have to agree with me, Clive Owen was super yummy in this film!

MADAGASCAR
Watched this twice. First with my sis Andrea. Then with the whole family. Entertaining, funny, real nice!

MR. & MRS. SMITH
Brad Pitt + Angelina Jolie = HOT HOT HOT!
Looove this flick! Although it makes you wonder how they remain clean and gorgeous even after all that action. And why nobody ever bothered to shoot them in the head if they really wanted them dead. Hehehe… Still, I am rooting for Brangelina. Jennifer Aniston is really such a bore. Zzzz…
besty 2
My besty and I went to UST couple of weeks back. We had a great time reminiscing as we walked through the halls and the sidewalks. It’s amazing to see all the changes and improvements, but still see the same people working in the offices. We’ll be going back soon to get our transcripts and my diploma. Can’t wait!

Hosted Wave 89.1’s premiere of Batman Begins last night. Travel and waiting time – 1 hr. & 50 mins. Hosting time – 4 mins. Cute. And you really had to go all the way to Greenbelt 3 for that. The happy part of the story is that I was able to park well. :) Now I’m not afraid to go the malls because I know that I’ll be able to park. Not as fast as the experts, but pretty much acceptable. :)

Batman Begins had great reviews on the net. And Christian Bales makes an incredible Bruce Wayne. Another must-see for me and my beau!

Something new in my life – I have a new partner now for my show. Robi the Rascal (of the Akafellas) is back, and he’s sharing the sign-on shift with me. So now officially it is ANNE & ROBI on the D&G. :)
