Let's get it on!

I am now working on a new project, and this one involves nobody else but myself!

Project title: Light and Free!
Project goal: For me to lose weight in one month.
Starting date: August 11, 2008
End date: September 11, 2008 (oh dear...9/11!)
Current weight: 105 pounds
Target weight: 98 pounds
Accomplice: Obet (my boxing instructor)

I want to drop down to a nice and light 98 pounds. Now people will tell me payat ka na! I know that. But I want to trim my 105 down to just two digits.

So Obet, who will be helping me with this project, already gave me a set of rules to follow for the next 30 days.

1. No rice
2. No pork
3. No ice cream, cakes and chocolates
4. No junk food
5. No fast food

Sabi nga niya, wala munang inuman for 1 month. Sabi ko, ayoko nga! No beer na lang. Pero Baileys pwede. Hehehe :)

I am posting about this so that I'd have an audience. There will be times na tatamarin ako and would feel like giving up. But the thought of my blog readers cheering me on will help me achieve my goal.

So there. Wish me luck!

Should I?

I've been given an opportunity to run away and re-build my life from scratch in another country. I must say I find it quite thrilling. I have been pondering on a career shift, and a magazine company is something that I really, really want to get into. I was thinking of applying at Summit or the Abs Cbn Publishing Group. But a good friend of mine has connections that, if I do well with my application, might just give me a chance to work (and live) in Singapore. Oh how exciting! And at the same time, terrifying. If ever, this will be the first time I would be living away from my family. Not to mention all the perks and comforts of my current career. But someone who has read my aura said I am a survivor. Leave me in the middle of a desert and I will find my way, not out of it, but a way to turn my situation into something wonderful. (Daw) :) I still have to finish all my commitments here before I decide to go or not. My two dubbing projects will be done by November - December. If I decide to go, it's going to be a brand new life for me in 2009.

So here I am thinking about it. Should I?

A little bit of besty healing...

Life isn't always a bed of roses. Sometimes, all it gives you is crap. It's during those moments that our bestfriendship is at its strongest.

So Len and I met up and ranted and raved about everything (which has its own place under the sun)... :)

bestfriends
Afternoon at Trinoma.

Good food always makes you feel better. And Conti's does not disappoint.

conti's
Baked Salmon with paella and buttered vegetables.

Turtle Pie.

And the ultimate stress-and-misery-reliever (though it only provides temporary comfort, it's so very satisfying) is of course, shopping! These cute tube dresses at Landmark were a steal!

Storms may be hitting us real hard right now, but we got each other's backs, and we take comfort in knowing that our lives are complicated because it comes with being beautiful. Hehehe...

So go ahead, life! Bring it on!

Bon Samedi!

I initiated a "wear red" Saturday for a picture-taking session with my French 1 classmates. Everyone wore red today, yey! Even our teacher Cindy. Except for the guy in yellow, who was absent the previous meeting and was not informed. But that's ok. We had fun anyway. :)

classmates
The most beautiful French class in UP. :)

As promised, I brought chips to share during our breaktime. I was gonna take pictures while we had our 20-minute "bonding," but my fingers were all greasy from eating Lay's so I couldn't hold my cam. :) Next week, we agreed to prete un shirt bleu (I don't remember if that's the right way to say wear a blue shirt), and bring food to share again for breaktime. Saya! Parang high school. :)

----------

Apre la classe, I met up with Pam for lunch that turned into a whole-day date!

smile!

1. Panini, pasta and fondue at Xocolat in Eastwood.
2. Shopped for undies at I Love Cocco.
3. Shopped for dresses at Preview and the "Hip" store that Pam wanted to check out.
4. Ice cream at Dairy Queen. Pam got a Mud Pie Blizzard, I got a hot fudge sundae which she said was "baduy." :)
5. Shopped for maxi dresses at Details Trading.

mukha kaming flag :)
We bought identical dresses of different colors. We'll wear them on the same day para mukha kaming Philippine flag. :)

6. Played at the arcade! Saya! We were loving this game where the mice come out from holes and you slam them with this thing that looks like a hammer. Nakakatanggal ng stress yun as in! We slammed away while a group of college boys doing videoke watched us from inside their glass booth. :) After spending about 400 bucks each, we traded in our tickets for cheap goodies that made us look like happy little girls.

arcade
Pam is an avid Mickey Mouse fan, so we both got this. I thought it was a keychain. Pang cellphone pala. It would look a bit funny on my Atom, so I just placed mine on my dashboard. :)

7. We had our pictures taken at Neo Print! Panalo! High school na high school! :) Grabe, ang mahal na ng Neo Print ngayon. And hi-tech na! Nung panahon namin, less than a hundred lang yun, and you couldn't put stamps or write on the pics back then. Ang tanda na namin. Buti na lang hindi halata. :)

8. Passed by Skin 101 to have a tiny pimple injected. (Sayang sa needle, pero oc-oc ako sa face.)

9. Stayed at Starbucks at the Corinthian Clubhouse 'til 10pm.

Bon week-end!

Enjoying my French class very much. It just gets really hot in the classroom because there isn't any air conditioning. But I'm still having a good time and this Saturday, I took out my camera and asked my classmates to smile for my blog! :)

French 1-C

French 1-C
Our teacher, Cindy, is the lady behind me in the black-and-white-print top. She's very nice and pleasant, and was game to have our "class picture" taken, even if it wasn't our last day in class. :)

Before all this, the only french words I knew were bonjour and au revoir. Now I know the days of the week, months of the year, count from 1 to 29 and even say short sentences with the correct french pronunciation! Saya! :)

----------

I've been keeping my Fridays and Saturdays (my most dreaded days of the week) really, really busy. Going out with different people the whole day and coming home dead tired. Sayang sa gas pero carry lang, rather than having so much idle time by myself.

After my french class, I had lunch with my friend and colleague Pam. We met up at Chocolate Kiss and did some catching up over salpicao and mexican food.

Choc Kiss

Then I met up with Tita Mags and Tito Jessie at Max's Scout Tuazon where they were wrapping up a business meeting. We were supposed to watch Hancock at Trinoma, but when we got there, grabe ang daming tao! Hindi nakakatuwa! So we ended up a Starbucks, kwentuhan and yosi na lang, and picture-taking of course! :)

At Trinoma
Tita Mags (marketing manager of Mossimo) is one of my very, very few close and trusted friends. And here we are at this very lovely part of Trinoma - with the pond, the plants and the perfect landscaping. Panira lang talaga yung mga... well, alam mo na.

And to end the day, I picked up my besty at Abs Cbn and we went to Shangri-la for a quiet dinner at Cafe Provencal and a movie. We went to see Wanted. (Now I desperately want to be two things: 1. To look like Angelina Jolie 2. To become an assassin.)

Steady

Grabbing every chance to be together, to find strength and solace in our bestfriendship.

How you make me feel...

When he tells me I'm beautiful...

I believe him.

I see it in his eyes,
the way he looks at me,
with so much tenderness,
and his face melts in a smile,
and his gaze fills me with so much warmth, I blush.

He does not know his effect on me,
when he says I'm beautiful.
I am left speechless,
I cannot even say thank you,
but my heart starts to sing a thousand melodies.
He does not know,
but my soul takes flight
whenever he looks at me that way.

He doesn't even have to say he loves me.
His eyes give it away.
He looks at me,
and I know.

He tells me I am beautiful,
and he thinks I do not believe,
but I do.
I look in your eyes, baby,
and I do.

One of the best things in life...

...is having someone to sing Air Supply with.

Yes, my good friend Ida and I both love the songs of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock.
(and Aerosmith and Jon Bon Jovi!)

at il pirata

Dinner at Il Pirata. (The codfish-and-anchovies pizza was terrific!) Went to see Made of Honor afterwards. (Which we both loved.) Then capped it off with a good smoke, Starbucks Zen Iced Tea and thoughts about love, life and men who do and do not treat women like shit.

:)

------------

Ida: Ready to order?
Me: Yup!

(we both look at the waiter whose back was turned to us)

Me: (with my best flirting tone) Hey cutie!

(the waiter turns)

Ida and Me: (giggling) Uy... tumingin siya!

Welcome home besty!

My besty is back from her dubai trip / raket! Yey! We met up for a quick lunch at the Podium. Since we both weren't hungry, we settled for crepes at UCC. It's the companionship that matters anyway!

besty

Len bought a new cellphone in Dubai.

Len: Bumili ako ng bagong phone!
Me: Bumili ka ng phone? Eh paano 'pag nasira, saan mo papaayos?
Len: (slight pause) ...Ewan ko.

:)

And her pasalubong for me was a really nice tube top that was a dark blue with tiny floral prints, which according to Edward was "so Annej!" :) Thanks bespren! Suotin ko na bukas! Yey!

French Class: Day 1

First day of my French course at UP Diliman. I survived! Yey! :) Honestly, I had a great time. Went there early so I'd have time to look for my classroom, and I didn't want to be late. So I was about 10 minutes early for my 9am class. My professor was this very nice lady named Cindy. Most of my classmates were working people like myself. It was quite amusing to see a group of adults being taught the French alphabet, the days of the week (les jours de la semaine) and the months of the year (les mois de l'annee). It was like going back to kindergarten, and learning how to read and write and spell for the first time. But it was fun! :)

Now I know that when someone asks me, vous vous appelez comment? I answer je m'appelle Anne.

:)

Iced Tea
God bless UP for NOT being a non-smoking campus!

After class, I rewarded myself with a good smoke and a good lunch at my favorite place in UP - Chocolate Kiss!

Appetizer

Tuna
The one thing I always order: Grilled Tuna Steak, no rice, double servings of veggies.

Dessert
And you can never say no to their most delicious dessert: Devil's Food Cake. Since I'm on a diet, I just got one tiny piece. :)

Oh happy day! :)

Tomorrow... Shangri-La Mactan! Looking forward...

Inuman!

Went out with my besty's workmates last night. Len's radio show partner, Martin D, invited me to go drinking with them at Janero. I said yes but only if he'd treat me to two bottles of beer. Surprisingly, he agreed! Hindi kasi siya nanlilibre, according to Len. :)

So off we went drinking with da boys at Janero, which was a place I found quite enjoyable. Just about everything was good - the music, the food, the crowd (not too sosy, not jolog, just somewhere in between which was good kasi honestly I don't enjoy upscale bars that much, I find majority of the rich young people quite arrogant and irritating), and the company! Sobrang enjoy! :)

Janero
Len and I with Mike and Eric and I believe our 2nd bucket of beer. Or 3rd? Lost count. :)

First time ko sumama sa inuman nila. And first time ko to go drinking with new people. Len told me na makukulit yung mga WRR boylets, and ang kukulit nga! That's why I had such a great time! :)

We talked about love, marriage, sex, heartbreaks and a lot more personal stories until we were all drunk and sleepy. Saya!

Janero
Inuman at kulitan with WRR boys Mike, Erik and such-a-manager Martin D.

Janero
Ang kulit! :)

I haven't laughed that much in quite a while! And it was exactly what I needed.

And Martin (who moonlighted as Janero operations manager) was so gracious and maasikaso to me. Refilling my glass over and over with beer and ice, lighting up my cigs for me. Panalo! :)

Thanks guys! And thanks to my besty, too! Join ako ulit sa next inuman niyo ha? :)
